A 14-day USCIS civics test study plan
Work through the 128-question 2025 test bank in manageable daily groups, then spend four days reviewing and speaking your answers aloud. Print this checklist, share it with a study partner, or use it in a citizenship class.
This is a suggested routine, not a promise that two weeks will be enough. Repeat days or extend the schedule to match your English, familiarity with the material, and available time.
Use the same simple routine each day
Start with a free 10-question practice quiz to try answering before reviewing the study list.
- Recall yesterday: start with a few questions you found difficult. Try answering before looking.
- Read today’s group: study the question and its accepted answers. When a question requests more than one answer, practice giving that number.
- Say it aloud: cover the answers and ask a partner to read the questions, or read each question yourself and look away before answering.
- Mark what needs work: write the question numbers you missed. Begin tomorrow with those numbers.
Start with about 20–30 minutes if that fits your day, or split the routine into two short sessions. Give difficult questions more time.

Prepare for spoken answers
The standard 2025 civics interview is oral: an officer asks up to 20 questions, and passing requires 12 correct answers. Reading a list or choosing an answer on a screen does not replace speaking practice.
For your review sessions, let your partner choose questions in a different order. Keep answers covered until you respond. Record missed question numbers and revisit the source answers together. Your practice score is a study aid, not a prediction of an interview result.
Some answers change after elections or appointments. Check the USCIS test updates page and official state or local resources close to your interview. This checklist covers civics study; it does not cover every part of the naturalization interview.
